Happy Friday Eve! What are your plans for the weekend? I have a bunch of cleaning to do, but I'm super excited just to sleep in. It really is the little things!
Anyway, if you live in Austin and you're looking for something to do this weekend, I've got a great recommendation for a casual day-date.
We stopped by Prohibition Creamery on Sunday, and while I expected it to be good, it exceeded my expectations. As the name implies, Prohibition Creamery specializes in spirit-infused ice creams. You can get these plain on a cone or in a cup, jazzed up with extra toppings or with a shot poured over, or in one of their amazing sundaes or milkshakes.
They also have non-alcoholic flavors like Cheesecake and Dark Chocolate Sorbet. They make all their flavors in house, and they also serve cocktails and beer. Because what goes better with boozy ice cream than actual booze? Nada.
Not only is their ice cream amazing, but they have the perfect atmosphere. They're located in East Austin, in a little converted bungalow home, next to a few other bars and restaurants. They get steady traffic, but we were able to get a seat easily, and it wasn't overcrowded by any means. They played some great classic soul tracks that we enjoyed listening to while sitting on the cozy little front porch. Perfection.
I think you can probably tell that I was enjoying myself very much. Although the booze probably helped, haha!
I decided to try the Deconstructed Old Fashioned Sundae, because bourbon is my shit, and also because Instagram - duh. It consists of Bourbon ice cream, Angostura bitters marshmallows, topped off with bourbon whipped cream, candied orange, and a Luxardo cherry. I don't even have words for how good this was. The bourbon ice cream is a perfect blend of warm and spicy vanilla and bourbon, and the cherry and candied orange give it a tinge of sweet tartness to perk it up. Diviiiine!
Eddie chose the Irish Coffee Milkshake, which consists of Bailey's Irish Cream and Chameleon Cold Brew Coffee, blended with what I believe is classic vanilla ice cream (although it doesn't specify on the menu). This was one of the less boozy options, so it's great if you're not really a liquor person. I tried it, and it was amazing!
Behold, the beauty!
With the hot weather, it was a tough choice between beer and ice cream. So we got both! Isn't he a cutie? I love him.
I'm really curious to come back here on a Saturday night and see what it's like. They have a nice list of cocktails which I really want to try, so I'll let you know how that is whenever we get to it.
So, now that I've talked your ear off about ice cream, let's have some outfit inspiration!
I picked up this chic little jumpsuit from Target several months ago for my birthday dinner, and still haven't gotten around to posting it yet, so here it is! If you want to see how I styled it for my birthday, check it out on Instagram here!
This thing is SO versatile. It's got this great silky material that can be dressed up or down, and it comes in this lovely olive green and black. Not only that, but it's on clearance right now for $14.99! I was having trouble deciding between the olive and the black, but now I'm about to snatch up the black one too!
The next photo is ridiculous. This is what happens when my photographer (aka hubby) asks me to pose so he can get a picture of my sparkly shoes.
Absolutely ridiculous. But that's what makes life fun, innit?
Anyway, the shoes. I've mentioned before how Vans are the best sneakers ever to exist. So when I saw these glittery Authentics when we were out in California, I had to grab them. They also come in pink, and not just the Authentics, but the Old Skool and Sk8-Hi styles as well. So many good choices! I didn't think I would wear them terribly often, but they're actually really versatile.
I talked about this cute little backpack in last week's post. I love it because it's got enough pockets to keep all my stuff organized, which I feel is becoming more and more rare with larger bags (especially totes). Has anyone else noticed this? I'm all for the minimalist look, but I need someplace to put my stuff, yo!
Anyway, with that in mind, I've gathered a few bags that I think you'll really like, which are large enough to hold a laptop, and have enough pockets or compartments to help organize #allthethings. These are perfect if you need to carry a few diapers, etc., but you don't want to lug around a huge, overstuffed diaper bag.
I'm especially loving the cognac-colored tote from Gap. It's just perfect for fall. Have I mentioned how excited I am for fall?! I am beyond over this muggy summer weather we're having. Ugh.
Anyway, that's about it for today! I'll see you on Tuesday! Be sure to scroll down for my outfit details, and if you need more outfit inspo in the mean time, don't forget to follow me on Pinterest!
