Happy Wednesday, everybody!
It’s been awhile since I did a beauty box review, hasn’t it? I’ve been seeing the Fab Fit Fun boxes all over social media, so I thought I’d give one a try since they boast full-size products instead of samples.
I signed up to receive the fall box, which included some pretty amazing goodies that I’m excited to share with you! Scroll on down for the details on the box and my reviews on the products!
Super important part:
Be sure to read through and grab your discount code for $10 off your first box!
As with the last beauty box review, I’ll be giving the individual products, as well as the overall box a rating of 0-5 depending on how well the items perform.
Customization: There is a member survey, but they do not customize the boxes. There is an option to choose between certain items for your first box, or if you upgrade to the Select membership.
Shipping: Free within the contiguous US.
Contents: Full-size beauty and lifestyle products totaling $200+ in retail value. The amount of products varies, but is always generous.
Additional Discounts: “Exclusive Offers” that give you a discount with Fab Fit Fun’s partner brands.
Box Review and Ratings
Price: Considering everything that comes in this box, the price is phenomenal. Not only are you getting full-size beauty products, but you get tools and lifestyle items that don’t run out. Definitely worth the fifty bucks.
Frequency: I think the quarterly boxes are perfect for the price, and the amount of items that are in the box. Given that there are full-size beauty products, they last you quite awhile before you receive your next “fix.”
Customization: Unfortunately, you only get the option to customize a few items in your first box. After that, if you want to choose the items in your box, you have to sign up for the annual (or Select) membership. You do get a discount at $179.99 for a full year. But it would be nice to have some customization options at the base tier.
Shipping: Let’s be honest, nobody doesn’t love free shipping. It’s nice that they don’t try and sneak the shipping cost in on you last-minute like some other companies do.
Contents: There is so much value in this box! The team at Fab Fit Fun does a great job of picking out chic and relevant items for the modern woman. I was very pleased with the items in my box.
Additional Discounts: The discounts are an extra bonus, but they don’t have them for every product/brand that comes in your box. Sometimes they are good discounts, like 20% off your first purchase, and other times they are oddly specific (like with beautyblender, you get 20% off a cleanser, not an actual blender). So these discounts to me are definitely a good bonus, but not the best they could be.
Overall Rating: 4.5
Vince Camuto Luck Tote
I hate to say it, but this one was a bit of a miss for me. I really wanted to love it, because it’s so sleek and versatile-looking. But when I actually tried it out, it just didn’t work. There is no closure on it. No zipper, button, snap - nothing. It also has very little depth, so it doesn’t hold much. You might fit a 13” laptop and your keys, phone and lipstick, but not much else.
The design was lovely, and the leather (or faux-leather) was of good quality, with strong stitching. I would probably use this for a trip to the coffee shop to work, or to take to a day job, but the lack of a closure makes it a bit iffy for me.
Catherine Malandrino Umbrella
I love this umbrella! Although I would’ve preferred the black-and-white design option, the pink flower print is super cute as well.
It comes with a matching sleeve, and has an automatic release button for convenience. Finally, the soft-touch handle gives it a slip-free grip.
It’s the perfect size for stuffing in your tote in case of an emergency, and it functions very smoothly, which means no struggling with your umbrella when you’re trying to keep your hair dry.
Unfortunately, I haven’t yet had the time to try this teapot out, so I can’t say how it performs, but I’ll be sure to update this post when I do!
As far as the design goes, I just adore this little beauty! Blue is my favorite color, so this pale sky blue caught my eye immediately. And the Sakura, or cherry blossoms, remind me of our time living in Japan, so this particular design spoke to me in a special way.
The ceramic body of the pot is complimented by a sleek stainless steel infusing basket and lid. I can’t wait to try this thing out!
Simply Whimsical Tea Towels
These towels were a great pick to go with the tea pot. Although the design is different, they are a nice, modern, neutral design that goes well with almost any kitchen.
They have a thinner weave, so they definitely aren’t for mopping up messes, but they’ll work great as decorative towels in my kitchen. So cute!
GlamGlow Bubblesheet Mask (set of 2)
The first beauty item in my box was a really exciting one. I’ve been wanting to try GlamGlow products for awhile now, but it’s been out of my budget. This was a great way to try them and see how their products work.
The Bubblesheet Mask is an oxygenating, deep cleansing mask that bubbles up when you apply it. It’s a really unique process that is honestly just fun.
The best part about this mask? You only have to leave it on for three minutes before you take it off and use the foamy bubbles as a cleanser on your face. This is SO much better than sitting there awkwardly trying to keep the sheet from sliding off your face.
This was almost a little too deep cleaning for my dry skin, but it wasn’t too bad. My skin was also noticeably brighter afterward, and super soft, even though there were no exfoliants in the mask. I would definitely recommend this mask!
Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliant
Okay, so I already told you guys about my favorite scrub ever that I received in the Target Beauty Box, but this one would have to be a close second.
This scrub consists of gentle exfoliants bound together in a creamy base that has a light, clean scent of grapefruit with a slight hint of mint. Normally I’m not a grapefruit fan, but this scent is so subtle that it’s just enough to perk you up in the morning.
My skin felt soft and refreshed after using, and it was noticeably brighter as well. It would be a great product to use first thing in the morning to give you a little boost and perk up yo’ tired face before work.
Farmacy Dew it All Eye Cream
This is another brand that I have been eager to try, so I was stoked to find it in my box. I’ve also been a little obsessed with finding a good eye cream, and I think this one definitely fits that description.
It’s just barely scented, so it didn’t irritate my sensitive eye skin. It also has a nice cooing effect, which was an extra bonus.
The formula is rich and creamy without being overly thick and difficult to apply. After using, my eye area felt plump and smooth, and I noticed a little difference in my under eye circles. I’ll definitely be using this in the future.
Skin & Co. Roma Blue in Capri Shower Gel
This body wash has me wanting to head over to Skin & Co. Roma’s website and buy all their shit, no joke. Normally I’m not a fan of “perfumed” body washes like this, but this scent isn’t too heavy, and it’s such an interesting scent that I can’t get enough.
Imagine taking a rose petal bubble bath in the middle of a pine forest. Yeah. The basil and sage create a clean, earthy scent, while the alpine rose and autumn blossom add just the slightest floral notes. This scent errs on the feminine side but is actually pretty gender-neutral.
Now, if you’re looking for an ultra-moisturizing body wash, this one isn’t it. It will get you clean and smelling lovely, but it’s not moisturizing like some other washes. I’ll be using it as a bubble bath, or anytime I need a bit of scent therapy in the shower. They also offer an “Alpine Retreat” scent that I am eager to try.
last but not least…
I was actually pretty excited to try this, because I’ve never used an actual beautyblender brand blender. I’ve always bought knockoffs from e.l.f. and Up&Up at Target, not realizing there was a big difference.
I didn’t expect to find a big difference, but I was really pleased, and I can see why people make the investment for the real thing. The most noticeable difference between the beautyblender and the e.l.f. blender I’m currently using is the texture of the foam. The beautyblender has a softer, kind of brushed, almost velour-like texture, where the e.l.f. (and Up&Up) blender has a more solid, smooth foam. This brushed texture allows for easier blending, in my opinion. I feel like the smoother foam requires a little more effort and smoothing out of the product rather than just “bouncing” like with the beautyblender.
The second thing I noticed was that the beautyblender is a little bit lighter and bouncier than the knockoffs. Again, this allows for easier blending with less tugging on the skin. This is especially important for me, since I primarily use it for blending undereye concealer, and we all know that the skin around the eye is like the Holy Grail and shouldn’t be touched (at least not too much)
That’s it for the product reviews! Overall, I was really pleased with this box, and I’m stoked to see what’s in the Winter box. Considering that the beautyblender and body wash alone are worth almost what I paid for the entire box, I think Fab Fit Fun packs quite a bit of value into a really fun assortment of goodies. They also sent a LUNA Rica bar, which, if you know me, you know that food is the way to my heart. So I think Fab Fit Fun has definitely got that part down. By the way, the LUNA bar was amazing. Organic, gluten-free, and super tasty! I got the Salted Caramel Nut flavor. SO good.
Now for the good stuff…
Anyway, I’m off to do some mid-week cleaning, yayyyyy. :|
Have a great rest of your week!
